PRODUCTION NOTES
In 2005, Youssef was contracted to shoot four music videos for Westchester County, NY troubador and performer Jerry “The Baritone” Salamone—a cool cat who exuded class and sophistication with his renditions of popular standards by Bobby Darrin and Old Blue Eyes himself, Mr. Francis Albert Sinatra (the patron Saint of New Jersey).
Working with The Baritone in his spacious and finished basement, Youssef set up the bluescreen sheet, lights and his trusty Sony DCR-TRV950 to record Jerry lip-syncing to his pre-recorded songs on CD. Utilizing only one camera, Jerry had to perform each song twice: once for the master shot; the second for close-ups. Like a consumate professional, The Baritone nailed it each time!
In post, Youssef digitized the MiniDV footage into his Apple Mac G4 and edited the videos via Final Cut Pro—melding the pre-recorded music to each corresponding music video before adding digital backdrops and graphics for the finished products featured above. These videos feature the different angles aforementioned in the last paragraph—while master-shot clips and special digitized business card codas were created for internet-based streaming & viewing. Those can be seen here.
